Health and wellness has always been a passion of mine. This is how I got so into skincare specifically, because taking care of your skin should be a staple in anyone’s skincare routine. Especially during these uncertain and very stressful times, it’s becoming even more important to take care of ourselves mentally and physically. For this post I’m joined by guest blogger, Eliza Brooks, sharing with the Heylifestylee community some of the main skin problems that can be solved with CBD! Let’s jump right into it with Eliza.
Many countries around the world have started legalizing cannabis (including all of its related products) and a lot of people have been quick to see to what extent it can be useful. Naturally, people started using CBD products in their skincare, not knowing it does offer a lot of benefits. Here are a few.
Eczema is a chronic problem for lots of people – it’s estimated that eczema affects 35 million Americans: 1-3% of adults, and up to 20% of children. It is a condition where patches of skin become itchy, red, cracked, rough, and sometimes blisters might appear. Atopic dermatitis is the most common type of eczema and there are lots of reasons why people have it; it could be due to food, environment, or autoimmunity. A lot of reports state that CBD can be beneficial to those suffering from eczema because its anti-inflammatory properties help to ease redness and itchiness. It can also help to hydrate cracked and rough patches of skin.
Psoriasis is a condition where skin cells multiply uncontrollably, resulting in the build-up of these cells into bumpy, red patches. These patches can grow anywhere but commonly appear on the elbows, knees, scalp, and lower back. While this condition can’t be passed from person to person, it does often occur in members of the same family. CBD as a possible treatment for psoriasis is still in its infancy. However, psoriasis is included in the list of indications for medical cannabis, and this is due in part to personal accounts of people who have used it and reported they found relief in some of the symptoms associated with psoriasis.
Heals Dry Skin
At some point or another we have all suffered from dry skin. But some people have had to live their entire life with dry skin and it can cause all sorts of problems. Regardless of the cause, it’s not so easy managing dry skin. The tendency for most people is to over-moisturize but that can stop the skin from producing its natural oils. CBD oil consists of many nutrients that can help nourish and hydrate the skin. It can help it to stop peeling, cracking, and getting cuts.
Acne is a common skin disorder that results from dead skin cells, excess oil, and dirt that clogs the pores. That blockage is then attacked by bacteria present in the hair follicle, leading to inflammation. The proliferation of bacteria then causes blemishes on the skin. Research suggests that CBD oil contains properties that help to stop all these factors that trigger acne. CBD helps to reduce the overproduction of oil and its anti-inflammatory properties help reduce swelling and redness.
As we age, it’s natural that our skin ages along with us. It will start showing signs of aging such as redness, dullness, and dreaded wrinkles. It is a commonly held belief that in order to keep our skin young looking, we need to use anti-aging products. But little do people know that CBD works as well, if not better, than all of these creams and lotions. This is because CBD is an antioxidant. Therefore, it can remove toxins that accumulate in the skin which make it look older and more wrinkly. CBD oil in particular is a great moisturizer for the skin, keeping it fresh, supple, and smooth.
Itchiness and Pain
Every now and then, we experience itchiness and pain on our skin, whether it is due to insect bites, skin allergies, or dryness. Scratching it might only worsen the problem as our nails might break the skin and lead to an infection. In such instances, topical CBD from any online dispensary can be used. First, it is an effective anti-inflammatory which helps with itchiness. It also has analgesic properties that can help with pain.
Anyone with sensitive skin can attest to how infuriating it is to find the perfect product. It should contain natural ingredients lest you suffer from redness, inflammation, and sometimes pain. Ask any online dispensary and they will tell you that CBD is a great skincare product for people with sensitive skin because it only contains all-natural ingredients with zero harmful chemicals.
