Review: Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder

I got a new setting powder!! YIPEEEE!!

As some of you know if you follow me on social media (Instagram @ heylifestylee and Snapchat @ ariellewinfield) – I lost MY ENTIRE MAKEUP BAG. Yes. It is pretty much all gone. *shedding uncontrollable tears* It has been such a traumatic experience every time I have to get dressed up. How am I supposed to go on!?!?

As I am slowly buying new makeup (Let’s be real most of my makeup was probably expired anyways) I just received the new Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder in the color medium deep in the mail!

Because I don’t have any foundation at the moment, I decided to try this setting powder on its own to see what the coverage is like, as well as if it will work as an all over setting powder or if I would only use it for baking purposes.

According to the product description, this setting powder is a cult-favorite and award-winning, silky powder with a touch of sheer coverage to set makeup for lasting wear.

What It Does

This translucent loose setting powder locks in makeup for long-lasting wear, without adding weight or texture. It creates a matte finish with sheer coverage, while it absorbs oil and reduces shine all day. The pros know why it’s their favorite: the powder is a little denser than an average powder, providing super smooth, even application and blending. The no-flashback formula means you’ll look great in photos, and it creates a soft-focus effect to subtly blur the look of fine lines and imperfections. It will not settle into fine lines or pores and never looks cakey. These translucent shades work on all skintones—from the fairest to the deepest. The just-released, medium deep shade was designed to be completely translucent on medium-deep to the deepest skintones, ensuring that every skintone gets a perfectly flawless, translucent finish.

After reading that description I was so excited to see what it would look like on my skin! Once I applied it I immediately noticed how lightweight it was. It feels like there is nothing there! *heart eyes* That heavy, cakey feeling has to be one of my least favorite things about makeup, so this made me like the product right away. I also love the no-flashback formula because it feels like every powder I’ve tried has flashback. EVERY TIME. Ugh, it’s the worst!

Check out this quick video I made for my Instagram page:

Below are the images at the end of the video showing the product taken with no flash and then with a flash (and snapchat filter not gonna lie lol)! NO FLASHBACK! I was so happy!

This Laura Mercier TLSP will definitely be making itself a staple in my new makeup bag. I can’t wait to try a bunch of new makeup looks with it! #noflashback #powdertothepeople

I received this product complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes. I hope you all liked my initial thoughts – in my next makeup tutorial I will be able to review it more thoroughly! Please remember to like, share, and follow!

  1. I have to try this powder! I’m always looking for powders to use instead of foundation.

    1. You wouldn’t use it instead of foundation, it’s a setting powder. It “sets” your makeup, making it last longer and giving you a nice finish

      1. Thanks Arielle! I would love to have a good setting powder to help my makeup last longer and give me that nice finished look.

  2. Thanks Arielle. I’ve definitely got to try this. Powder is sooooo much lighter than liquid.
