How to Achieve the Easy “No Makeup” Makeup Look

I’m going out tonight! *cue excitement* But I don’t feel like putting any makeup on… *cue slight dread* But I also don’t want to look like a bum… *insert confused emoji*

Now I have to decide if I want to put in a lot of effort and beat my face, or if I want to look like I didn’t try at all (because I didn’t) and put no makeup on… Neither of these sound appealing to me, so let’s compromise. I’ll go for a “no makeup” makeup look that takes maybe 5-10 minutes tops! *cue cheering* Yay!

Today I want to show you all how to enhance your natural beauty without looking like you put on a pound of makeup (because you didn’t!).

How to Get the Look

First, I start with my skin. I make sure I have been following my trusty skincare routine to ensure an even, clean base.

If your skin is looking great that day, you can skip this first step. But, if you’re like most people and have any blemishes or uneven skin tone (nobody is perfect!), grab your foundation and mix it with some of your face lotion. You can mix them together on the back of your hand or if you have one, use a BB cream instead. Smooth either option onto your face just like you would regularly. This gives a lighter coverage without feeling like you have a heavy product on your skin.

Then, if you still have any noticeable bumps or hyperpigmentation, just grab your concealer and blend it onto those spots.

Next, it’s time for your EYEBROWS! Eyebrows are so necessary. They frame your face and can really make or break any look you’re trying to achieve.

I usually use a combo of powder and pencil for my eyebrows because it helps them look more “made-up” and they last longer on my oily skin, but for this look I’m just going to use the eyebrow pencil. It looks more natural this way and takes less time. If you have oily skin like me, make sure if you use a pencil you have one that is more powdery than waxy. This will help give you a more even application and natural look.

I start under the arch and go all the way out to the tail. Then, I lightly fill them in with short strokes to mimic the hairs rather than drawing them in like a coloring book. You don’t want them looking like this! (People will be looking at you like bruhhhh.)

I make sure to create definition with the eyebrow pencil, but nothing too aggressive. If I feel like it I will seal them with an eyebrow gel, so the hairs don’t move out of place.

Finally, I put about 2 coats of mascara on my upper lashes (I will do this for my lower lashes as well if I feel like it that day, but not too much! You don’t want to look like you have spider legs on your face), pat a tiny bit of blush on the apples of my cheeks, and I’m good to go!

  1. I love this. I want to start wearing makeup but I don’t feel comfortable “beating” my face yet. I want it to be simple, and natural. One of the main reasons is because I’m still learning to embrace myself. Anyways, you said to mix your foundation with your face lotion.. Did you mean literally mix them together? Or do you apply your face lotion and THEN put on your foundation?

    1. That’s okay! I wasn’t comfortable at first either! Sometimes you just have to keep trying 🙂
And yes, i literally mix them together. this makes it like a tinted moisturizer for a light coverage.

  2. Thank you! I will try the Maybelline brand. What do you recommend for older women lighter or darker colors?
