Mascara is something I pretty much use every day. It is one of my holy grail beauty products (aside from the absolute love of my life… my eyebrow pencil!). A makeup look simply isn’t complete without your eyebrows and eyelashes looking right. Does anyone else think you look like an egg without them…? No…? *crickets chirping* Come on, you gotta agree! Lashes instantly open up your eyes and you automatically look glamorous, especially when you are wearing falsies! (Want to know which lashes are my favorite falsies? Ever since I started wearing mascara in middle school my lash motto has been, the longer and more defined the better! I have tried many mascaras over the years, most of them being drug store brands. (Because let’s be real, sometimes these higher end brands break my bank account and they all look exactly the same.) But, one day I decided to branch out to see if it would actually make a difference.
I remember the day as if it was yesterday… *cue happy background music* I strolled into Ulta and perused the makeup section. I came across Benefit’s They’re Real Mascara in Jet Black and picked it up. I had heard great things about it and it was one of the more reasonably priced items, so I decided to purchase it. The next morning I put it on for work and INSTANTLY, we fell in love. I knew we were in it for the long haul.
This mascara is something I continuously return to even when I try other brands. It separates and lengthens my lashes so well even when I’m at the end of the tube. It really gets the job done!
Now because Benefit’s They’re Real Mascara is a little pricey to me to be paying for it on the regular (even though it’s really not that expensive… it’s only $24. Ya girl is just cheap!), I wanted to make sure I had a staple drug store brand that I liked as well. I tried pretty much all of Covergirl‘s mascaras but I never found one that satisfied me. I finally tried Maybelline‘s products and when I brought home Maybelline’s Lash Stilletto Mascara in Very Black I was honestly blown away. I had such low expectations because every other product kept disappointing me, but this one didn’t! I keep gravitating back to it even when I venture out and try other drug store brands. They never lengthen and separate my lashes as well as this one does!
These two products are staples in my makeup bag and even when I branch out, I’ll always keep them in my arsenal! Please let me know if you’ve ever tried either of these products and what your thoughts were!
